Build practical knowledge and confidence with a focused, hands-on fusion welding training day covering the key principles of irrigation and pressure pipe installation. Designed for greenkeepers, grounds staff, landscapers, irrigation engineers, utility companies, water authorities, and contractors, this course provides real-world experience in preparing, welding, and installing polyethylene pipework systems used across golf, sports turf, agricultural, utility, and landscape environments.
The session includes training on both petrol-powered and battery fusion welding equipment, allowing attendees to understand the advantages, limitations, and best-use applications of each system in the field. Participants will learn correct pipe preparation techniques, jointing procedures, common fault prevention, and safe working practices to help ensure strong, reliable welds and long-term system performance.
The course also covers pipe handling, machine setup, generator requirements, on-site considerations, and best practices for achieving consistent weld quality in varying working environments. Attendees will gain practical experience using a range of pipe sizes, fittings, clamps, scrapers, and fusion equipment throughout the day.
To provide realistic site experience, training includes access to a live muddy excavation pit where attendees can practise welding and handling pipework in genuine working conditions
, replicating the challenges often faced on-site rather than in a clean workshop environment.
Ideal for both new installers and experienced engineers looking to refresh or improve their fusion welding skills, this training combines practical demonstrations with hands-on application to deliver valuable site-ready experience.
